Event Recap: Tadaland MBTI Book Launch

On 14 September, authors William and Liora hosted a book-sharing session at the Eslite bookstore in Tsim Sha Tsui, where they engaged with readers to analyse MBTI personality traits and shared insights into the creation of the book.

To help the audience easily remember the various personality types, Liora, the creative director of the Hong Kong brand Tadaland, transformed the 16 MBTI personality types into 16 adorable and charming original cartoon characters inspired by Hong Kong culture. These characters, such as Apollo the Turtle, Dante the Lion, and Mozz the Cheese Chick, have captured the hearts of many fans.

Liora is explaining the creative concept behind Tadaland and the originality of the design for its 16 characters.

William emphasised that while many people often put down the book after discovering their MBTI type, it’s crucial not only to understand oneself but also to understand others in order to foster better relationships. The book includes comic stories depicting interactions among the characters, based on real experiences of William and Liora’s friends, showcasing the diverse aspects of each personality.

William also addressed common misconceptions and myths surrounding MBTI in today’s society, drawing a large crowd of attendees’s attention.

He highlighted that, for example, in Hong Kong, Apollo the Turtle represents the INFP personality type. The "I" and "P" traits resonate with many in the younger generation, who prioritise their own rhythm of life, enjoy the process, and love discovering life’s surprises. This contrasts sharply with the more decisive and action-oriented "E" and "J" types. However, he noted that understanding each other's personalities can help find a balance for peaceful coexistence.

Whether in peer relationships, romantic partnerships, or workplace communication, the book provides practical and actionable techniques for mutual understanding.

After the event, a large number of fans lined up for autographs and to interact with William and Liora.
